WebP to JPG converter
Turn WebP files into JPGs that every program, printer and upload form accepts. One file or a whole batch — free, in your browser, nothing uploaded.
Drag & drop WebP files here, or click to upload
Several files at once is fine — converted locally, never uploaded
Why you suddenly have WebP files
WebP is a modern format that stores the same picture in fewer bytes, so websites use it to load faster. The side effect is that when you right-click and save an image from a page, you often save a .webp file rather than a .jpg — even though the file you see on screen looks like any other photo.
Some services go further and export WebP thumbnails or downloads by default. That is where the incompatibility bites: the file is fine, the program you are trying to open it with is the problem.
Where WebP still causes trouble
- Older editing software — older versions of Office, some photo tools and many PDF builders simply do not recognise the format.
- Email clients and older phones — previews may fail to render, or the attachment may show as a generic file.
- Upload forms — marketplace listings, job portals, government forms and print services frequently accept only JPG or PNG.
- Print workflows — a shop's software may reject the file or print it incorrectly.
- Social posting tools — some third-party schedulers still mishandle WebP uploads.
In all of those cases JPEG is the safe answer: it has been universally supported for three decades, and at quality 90 the difference from the WebP is not visible in normal use.
Converting a whole folder at once
- Select all the WebP files you need (in your file browser, or drag them straight onto the box above).
- Pick a JPG quality — 90 for photographs you care about, 75 if the destination has a size limit.
- Each file appears in the list with its size before and after. Press Download on the ones you want.
The conversion happens on your own machine, which is why there is no queue and no upload progress bar: there is nothing to upload. You can pull the network cable out after the page loads and it will still work.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a file size or count limit?
No hard limit. A few dozen files is comfortable in any modern browser; if you are converting hundreds at once, do it in groups so the browser is not holding everything in memory at the same time.
Will the JPG be bigger than the WebP?
Usually yes, by roughly 20–40% at similar quality. WebP is simply the more efficient format. You are trading a little file size for universal compatibility.
Can I keep transparency?
Not in a JPG — it has no alpha channel. A transparent WebP converted to JPG gets a white background. If transparency matters, convert to PNG instead using the image converter.
Are animated WebP files supported?
No. Only the first frame of an animation would be converted, so this tool is intended for still images.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion is done by your browser on your device. Nothing is transmitted, stored or logged.
