How to convert an image
- Drop an image in the box above, or click to choose one.
- Pick the format you need under Convert to — WebP, JPG or PNG.
- Set the quality if you picked JPG or WebP, and optionally cap the width.
- Download the converted file. The original on your device is untouched.
Which format should you convert to?
- WebP — the best default for anything going on a website. Usually 25–35% smaller than the equivalent JPG with no visible difference, and it keeps transparency.
- JPG — the format to choose when something other than a browser has to read the file: email clients, print services, older forms, some marketplace back ends. No transparency.
- PNG — lossless, so nothing changes on save, and it keeps transparency exactly. The right choice for logos, screenshots of text and flat-colour graphics. Expect a much larger file for a photograph.
There is a dedicated page for each of the conversions people search for most: PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG and WebP to JPG (which also handles a whole batch at once).
What conversion can and cannot do
Converting changes the container, not the content. If the image is blurry, over-compressed or the wrong size, converting it will not repair any of that — and converting a lossy format to another lossy format costs a little quality each time, because the encoder has to guess at detail that was already discarded.
That leads to a simple rule: keep the best original you have, and convert once, at the end, straight to the format the destination needs. Do not convert JPG to PNG to edit and back to JPG for no reason; every round trip through a lossy format is a small step down.
Frequently asked questions
Is this image converter free?
Yes, and there is no account, no watermark and no daily limit. It runs in the browser, which is also why it is instant — there is no file to upload.
Will converting change the image quality?
To JPG or WebP: slightly, depending on the quality setting. Quality 90 is visually identical for most photos. To PNG: not at all, because PNG is lossless.
Why does a transparent PNG look white after converting to JPG?
Because JPEG has no way to store transparency. Transparent areas have to become a solid colour — use the background picker to choose which. To keep transparency, export to PNG or WebP instead.
Can I convert an image on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your mobile browser, choose a photo from the gallery, pick the format and download. It works the same as on a desktop.
Can I convert a PDF or a HEIC file here?
No. This converter handles JPG, PNG and WebP only. For PDFs of images, use the image to PDF tool; HEIC files from an iPhone usually need to be shared as JPG from the Photos app first.
